False prophets arose among you,
Just as there will be false teachers;
Destructive heresies construe,
Masters in being out-reachers.
Sensuality they follow,
Blasphemed from the way of truth;
Exploiting with false words that flow,
Distorting the minds of the youth.
For in their greed they will exploit,
Condemnation from long ago;
Destruction that they will anoint,
Not asleep for spreading its woe.
If God spared not angels that sin,
Rather casting them into hell;
Chains of dark gloom would discipline,
The judgement to be kept until.
If He did not spare the ancient world,
But preserved to preach righteousness;
From a flood that might have not hurled,
If the ungodly did confess.
By condemning into extinction,
Turning cities into ashes;
They had caused a contradiction,
On the Holy Word that clashes.
If He not rescue the righteous,
Greatly distressed by the wicked;
Sensual bearing licentious,
Becomes shamefully addicted.
That righteous man lived among them,
Tormented of his righteous soul;
Over lawless deeds that condemn,
That Satan had in his control.
Then the Lord knows how to rescue,
The godly righteous from trial;
Punish the wicked who subdue,
The righteous that would defile.
For those who indulge in the lust,
Of corrupt passion to despise;
An authority that we would trust,
Giving insight to make us wise.
