We know that the whole creation,
Which has been groaning together;
Of a childbirth sensation,
With labor pains as we gather.
And not only the creation,
But the firstfruits of the Spirit;
Inwardly with expectation,
About what we will inherit.
For as an adopted child,
With redemption for this body;
No longer out running wild,
And no longer acting haughty.
For in this hope we have been saved,
Now hope that we see is not hope;
It is deception that enslaved,
From tribulation that we cope.
If we hope for what we see not,
We wait for it using patience;
Until we find what we had sought,
And in having a clear conscience.
The Spirit helps our weakness,
While not knowing what to pray;
The Spirit intercedes to bless,
When willing to trust and obey.
The groanings are too deep for words,
Searches the heart that knows the mind;
Gathering thoughts like the shepherds,
Keeping all of the sheep aligned.
Because the Spirit intercedes,
According to the will of God;
So that none of the saints impedes,
Worshipping to honor and laud.
Things work together for the good,
For all those who do love the Lord;
According to His purpose should,
Show that He is loved and adored.
For those to whom that He foreknew,
Predestined in being conformed;
The looks of His Son to construe,
As the firstborn being transformed.
