Fallow Garden

Wild grown stems sleep spar with the wind.
Pussy willows wave and shadow box
leaving bob and weave ghosts
on your side of a half empty bed.

Mullein stalks rabbit punch on the break.
Thorns sing song scratch back at the clinch.
Leaves rustle to fill spaces, where you stood.
Call me to come back to warm blankets.

Tail lights stain this half-opened window.
Don't you want to stay a little while and
linger a bit longer? We lead with a glass chin.
Only snow grows in our untended garden.
