Tattoos in Mayberry

Sometimes the best we can do
is drift away slowly
To survive, lest we perish
From this hard driven memory store.
When tales of courage
leading to greatness
are reduced to folklore.
When we're dog tired,
broken and bled to the core.
We'll drift away to a more promising shore.

To The Devil
with judges their felonies and torts
His false prophets preaching
in brick mortar forts.
When dead and gone legends
get their foot slammed in the door.
Back breaking riptides
have won and kept score.
We will drift away lightly
to a free shore once more.
