The Backyard Of My Life
A Simple Observation
A mind is beautiful thing to waste
For someone who's got no money shes sure got expensive taste
Drinking claret and Beaujolais
Watching old time television programs counting down the days
Till death comes to offer some sweet release
Shes stuck trying to fill a void praying for peace
A simple observation
The boy is all burned out
Riddled with fear covered in doubt
Looking for nothing no meaning to find
Lost in confusion the blind leading the blind
To absolute elsewhere this is not here
He cant articulate his thoughts his futures unclear
Buying possessions that she doesn't really need
In a world of corruption power and greed
She feels empty inside like shes got no soul
Getting deeper in debt digging a bigger hole
Climbing up the walls while her imagination is working over time
She cant get no satisfaction since she signed her name on the dotted line
A talent is both a blessing and a curse
If there's no reason in his rhymes
I cant think which is worst
Caught in a paradox pretending everything is fine
He said whats yours is yours whats mine is mine
Cries out lord help me to help myself
The answer is whispered in the wind
The secret is up on the shelf
Shes a seamstress wearing concepts of genius
Like some kind of elegant dress
She likes everything in order but her life is in a mess
Crippled by chaos too much rain
She uses religion to measure her pain
Its the crime of the century to throw it all away
You better believe there's a price to pay
Its a simple observation
