Consider Him who endured,
Negating of sinners;
Fainthearted that were lured,
From the discipliners.
Your struggle against sin,
You have not resisted;
Of blood that would begin,
That the charm persisted.
So have you forgotten,
Of the exhortation;
As a son begotten,
And a new creation.
For the Lord disciplines,
Of the ones He does love;
Chastises of who sins,
As a Father thereof.
It is for discipline,
That you have to endure;
Chastening those who sin,
For temptations that lure.
If without punishment,
Then you are defiled;
Expect abolishment,
No longer His child.
We have earthly fathers,
When wrong who will punish;
For he will hate loathers,
Willing to admonish.
For they discipline us,
A short time for the best;
He disciplines as thus,
When we have failed the test.
All discipline painful,
Not pleasant to feel;
Yields fruit that is peaceful,
To give a righteous zeal.
