Unrepentant

I'm an unrepentant Socialist.
I follow the creed
From each according to his ability
To each according to his need.
Most of my life I've been governed
By an aristocratic class,
Heads firmly up in the air
Accents like cut glass.

Then recently came a variation
Of their Management story.
Leadership seemed to pass
To a more Middle class type of Tory,
Who seemed to crack the whip,
Eager to prove their worth
To those  most aristocratic
Real Lords Of this Earth,

Who maybe would overlook
Their less elevated start
If they more than
Played their part
By coming  down hard
On the plebeian masses
While still looking  up
To the better classes.

Working long and  hard
To pander and ingratiate,
Passing more and more
To  their rich mate.
The most incredible part
Or their success  story
The majority that voted
Went and voted  Tory.

The turkeys really did
Vote For Christmas Day
Risking  hard earned Workers'
Rights being eroded  away.
And so eventually
The reins were handed back
Amidst corruption and sleaze
To a born in America party hack.
