We perceive that we love, That Christ laid down His life; For the caring thereof, Within the midst of strife. Then we ought to lay down, Our lives for brothers; Smile without a frown, For caring of others. If you have earthly goods, And another in need; Help them out of the woods, Bandage where they may bleed. Show how your love abides, Let us not love in talk; Confidence that confides, Through this life that we walk. Show in truth and in deed, By this then we shall know; Assured the heart in need, Truthful as the blood flow. When our heart condemns, God knows everything; Greater knowledge that stems, Advises what to bring. If the heart does not cry, Then we have confidence; God will then let us try, Work our own defense. What we ask we receive, If we keep His commands; Faith to firmly believe, Free will in our hands. We do what pleases Him, And believe in His name; He gives spiritual vim, That will help us proclaim. For He has commanded, To love one another; Unto us He handed, To care for each other. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
