 ramblings and things

The Pool

Home of the Beatles, the Cavern,
Seffie Park and Albert Dock,
Which captured the a world with
It's own brand of Beat and Rock.
The Liver Birds overlook the Mersey
Where once fortunes were made
Landing slaves  and Cotton and
Where Maggie May plied her trade.
Near Penny Lane there was a cafe
Serving magnificent breakfast fry
You could sit and read The Times
Or watch the world flow gently by

Home of Paddy's Wigwam,
Another  Cathedral as well,
Historic Red Rose City
With many a tale to tell.
Centre of Music and Comedy,
City of myth and rumour,
With its own distinctive twang
And its own brand of humour.
White Star Line and Cunard
Made it America's back door,
Nicknamed Dublin's Backyard,
Nestled on the Irish Sea Shore.

City of dreams and hopes
Where the world and his wife
Could ship across the Atlantic
For  chance of a different life.
Liverpool home of the Scousers,
Named  for its own Scouse stew,
It's citizens historically  gathered
From an Internationally diverse brew.
Granted Letters Patent by King John
In the year twelve hundred and seven
Welcome to The  City of Liverpool
A Football, Music and Cultural Heaven.
