Beware When The White Night Calls // re-edited 5/25/2020

//////////////////////////////////////
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
/////////////////////////////////////

what is it about darkness and night

that sometimes turns the bright starry blackness

into solid white

I've seen it like this

because I don't sleep

its suffocation and breathlessness

with my own two far-sighted eyes

the air becomes

the inside of a leaking refrigerator

the kind of coldness that reaches into your bones

and makes you believe in grim endings

the silence contained within it

the clamping down of a grey hand

reaching from a silvery sky

the dampering of each small sound

and then slowly crawls on its millipede feet

tip-toeing into and minute spaces

making tall builldings seem cramped

and engulfed

with fog so thick it covers

like a snail makes his hard shell

from the ground up

swallowed hole

with no belching sound

nor fireworks

the dense mist works its

prestige

the lights of the city

and the surrounding whiteness

becoming indistinguishable from one another

and the birds lose the sky and the ground

confusion dulls the mummy-moon

and pilots can't fly their plans

and stars and planets lose their orbits

when

the universe seems disordered

and chaos abides

as the night changes to white

and the moon is convinced

it is the new sun

and death steals on

little ferret feet

and squirms into sleeper's beds

some wake up

and some stall in their nightmares

get caught in the maw

of the pale and the pall

of Obliviland.....

beware Lucid Dreamers all

when nights turn spectre-white

and the air sneaks stealthily

into sight

and the denseness of white

silences then

snuffs out it all............................
