Poetic Verses

Takers

From the dawn of time the people came;

one and all, never the same;

to work, to fetch and to need,

to love to hate and even bleed

And to this day they come still;

to reap from the soil from which they till

Some are alone and some in pair

Some obtuse and some aware

The people March to their own drum

They know not why and yet they come

They take from the earth and from the sun

They take from others, everyone

They gather all of which they need,

then take some more out of greed

The love they beg, but only borrow;

to leave others weeping in their sorrow

Necessities to life sustain

Emotion shown just to drain;

and leave laughing when they go;

from mother earth and soul they hoe;

to drain from life unsuspecting,

leaving not a seed for resurrecting
