Vicars And Tarts

It was a Vicars and Tarts party
At the bottom of our street,
The vicars collared and suited
The tarts tarty but looking sweet.
By Jove those vicars really did
Know how to let their hair down
But I'd never realised there were
So many vicars in our town.

When the police finally raided
After a long and noisy night
None of them went quietly
Went without giving a fight,
I wondered the next day how  many
Congregations were left  in the lurch
Because their vicar was in custody
Instead of being in Church.
