A European Cup game
Apparently victory here will

Forget your Battle of Trafalgar,
Rourke's Drift, Balaclava, Waterloo,
The N.H.S., the Welfare State
The eco flushing loo.
All pale into insignificance if
Our team can just get it right,
Revolutionise our history
By thrashing Germany tonight.
We'll all sing Rule Britannia
And wave the Union Jack:
That's the sort of thing that happens
