Springtime Pleasures

After Fifty years of working,
Retirement now here,
I'm going to enjoy my every
Single remaining year.
Got my loving family,
Thankfully my health,
And, if we're  careful
Just enough wealth.
A pack of Ginger bikkies
To dunk in my pot of tea,
A visiting old Tom cat
Purring there on my knee,
Sitting in the garden
This fine Spring day
Pollen gathering bees
Efficiently in their way.
Pigeons and a squirrel
Feeding on the ground,
More birds on the feeder
Birdsong drifting around.
Crows in the trees
Squawking away
That seems how
They start each day.
Country music playing
Just quietly to my ear,
Not the type of music
Everybody wants to hear.
Water feature gurgling
Like a country stream,
Just living the life,
Living the dream.
Spring time in England,
A very variable feast,
Climate in this country
A very fickle beast.
But, when it's good it's good
And my pleasure is complete,
With Pot of tea, bikkies, old cat,
Sitting outside on my garden seat.
