The Backyard Of My Life
Time Flew Away Like A Bird In The Sky
Playing with toy soldiers under a lemon tree
At the bottom of the backyard
Laughing looking up at pictures in the clouds
Sitting in sand pits with a bucket and spade
Rolling around in the bluebells
Learning numbers and ABC's
Getting my hands dirty and scraping my knees
Society says men should never cry
While i busy making plans
Time flew away like a bird in the sky
Smoking behind bike sheds studying
Taking tests not paying attention to teachers
Ducking and diving playing truant and skiving
Flying the nest finding a job losing in love
Getting your heart trampled on
Picking yourself up dusting yourself off
Clubs and drugs drinking and late nights
After all when your young there's nothing you wont try
Before i knew what had happened
Time had flew away like a bird in the sky
Christmas mornings and golden summers
Running away like wild horses
Writing words and singing songs seeing sights
Somewhere down a dusty road
Making memories with friends and family
Campfires marsh mellows dancing in the rain
Wishes cast away under the stars
Commiserations celebrations tears of sorrow and joy
Wasting money gaining knowledge
Living illusions of freedom and power
Now I'm older and wiser in the blink of an eye
Time flew away like a bird in the sky
Lazy Sundays manic Mondays rush hour traffic jams
Weddings christenings birthday greetings
Successes and failures highs and lows
Plans and schemes and hopes and dreams even tho
Death is always standing in the doorway of life
I know not when i will die
I wonder where did the days go?
Time flew away like a bird in the sky
