What causes quarrels and fights,
That your passions are at war;
While causing sleepless nights,
Regardless, if near or far.
You desire but have not,
So you murder to obtain;
Coveting what you have sought,
Not satisfied to retain.
You ask and do not receive,
Because you are asking wrong;
Your passions try to deceive,
Because your desires long.
You adulterous people,
Knowing not of friendship here;
Being foe to the Gospel,
In God of having no fear.
Do you think Scripture is vain?
Jealous over the Spirit;
The lusting over His reign,
Watching within your merit.
But He is giving you grace,
As God opposes the proud;
The humble He does embrace,
While His grace is allowed.
Submit yourself to the Lord,
Resist the devil within;
To remain in one accord,
Which will free you from the sin.
If you draw near to the Lord,
God will draw nearer to you;
He will bless with a reward,
When purified hearts are true.
Let your laughter rid mourning,
As your joy abolish gloom;
Worship God for adorning,
That eliminates the doom.
Humble yourself before God,
And He will glorify you;
When you give honor and laud,
If sincerity is true.
