One minute you`re eighteen and now you`re twenty one
Don`t really know where the time in between has gone,
But you have grown and matured in many different ways
And I have nothing for you but the highest of praise.
You`ve always been a lovely boy and now you`re a man
Besides your Mum and Dad of course I`m your biggest fan,
Politeness and respect is what you`ve always shown
And I think you know that my heart is yours to own.
Turning twenty one is monumental in every way
And it should be celebrated in style I have to say,
However a tinge of sadness blights your day no doubt
You have a sick baby whom you`ve been with right throughout.
You too were once that small I remember it so well
And a few stories about you I would willing tell,
All nice of course as you were a pleasure to mind
When I was offered the chance I never once declined.
For now your twenty first celebrations are put on hold
As at your baby`s bedside you`ll be with your heart of gold,
I know your wish would be to have him home in good health
And that to you would be better than the greatest of wealth.
