 reflections

from birth...to death...to birth

the piano plays delicately
the violin listens to it talk
the flame dances eloquently
across the marble top
and all around the room
and everywhere he looks
are swirls of brilliant magnolia
dandelions…
…and buttercups

the bee searches frantically
creating vibrations in the breeze
the sand stretches endlessly
without offering guarantees
and a painter paints a picture
he’s trying to mislead
disguising what he really thinks
behind mountains…
…sky and trees

three buttons hang carelessly
yellow, green and blue
three lanterns dangle aimlessly
the only light the moon
and long spikey tentacles
reach out to the stars
twist and shake, bend and break
battered…
…bruised and scarred

mockingbirds sing gracefully
discarded postcards on the ground
memories shine perfectly
lovers walking hand in hand
and a small child takes a pumpkin
pushes it across the earth
in a brilliant red wheelbarrow
from birth…
…to death to birth
