Where The Rubber Meets The Road

I'll always be here
As I slowly watch in fear
That's what you said
As the moment is near I've come to dread

That night in the pouring rain
Hope dwindles to a single grain
As tears painfully stream
Please tell me it's all been a dreadful dream

I'll be able to let you go
But pain is a front-row show
I know I made a promise to you
Who knew the years were going to be so few
Fate can sometimes feel rotten
You are gone but not forgotten

As the end has too quickly showed
This is where the rubber meets the road
