Seize This Day, The One You're With

The Day,
so much like the others
arrived and sat down
in front of me.

Instantly,
I recognized Its Face.

"What did you think you'd call me?"
It asked, nearly taunting.

"Did you think I had a name?"
"Did you wish Me not to change?"
"Did you think I was a star on which
you could pin your eyes?!"
Its words were wanting
It wanted me to listen
but there was something
I didn't care to listen to,
Something to despise.

The Day was dimly out of focus
but full of Its own words.
Its edges had small beams
that barely flickered
as if were a Remnant
a Monster of The Distant Past
and I was
being absurd.

"Do not stay THERE!"
The Day demanded.
"Where you ME and your thoughts so often!"
"That Day is long-gone...
and will be forgotten in Its coffin!"

"You can't own a picture of It
as that technology
is fading fast...and if you
grasp It in your fingers
eventually It will be like a sieve
sifting through your hands."
No Day is meant to last!"
But, still, I asked...
and then sighed...
"But why!!!"
Aren't theremshadows of the
old insides of You...
A faint colorization of
Your Memories And Truths?"

The Day tried to turn Its mouth
up into a grin.
And found It could no longer
pinch the corners up to where
they once had been.

It said
(with moist eyes this time)
"I did my best to let you know
I would be numbered."
"Alas, I fear my attempts with you
have blundered.
"Your task is to hold fast
onto what you hold To-Day."
"Don't pas the time leaning
backwards because that's where you'll remain."
"There's still so much of Me
not to waste
seize Me.
seize this Day!"

I understood him better than before:
What He wanted wasn't difficult
and so I encircled Him like I never had
and morelll
"Seize This Day,"
I shouted...The One I'm with!"
