As long as he is a child,
Is no different from a slave;
Filled with many things beguiled,
With obedience to behave.
Under guardians and managers,
Until his father sets a date;
Shielding him from any dangers,
That are stalking lying in wait.
The same as when we were youngsters,
Enslaved to the elements here;
At times were like little monsters,
Not really sensing any fear.
But the fullness of time arrived,
As God had sent to us His Son;
Born of a woman as contrived,
Of the Law as the Holy One.
To redeem those under the Law,
That we might be received as sons;
Adopted and cleansed of any flaw,
Resurrected as one wakens.
Because you are sons and daughters,
God sent His Spirit of His Son;
When baptized in living waters,
Cleansing of our heart is done.
Abba! Father! our hearts cry,
No longer are you as a slave;
As lawful heirs are to apply,
No longer captive to the grave.
