Kidnapped
Sometimes I fancy
drinking hand sanitizer.
Or stapling my heart
to my lungs
in a desperate plea
to breathe
through these stupid masks.
The cruelest thing
they've done
was to kidnap my child
illegally
right in front of me
and I couldn't do a thing.
They wouldn't let me say
a word to my baby.
All I could do
was fight every instinct in me
to hold back the tears
that strangled me.
