Little Bundle I Call  Joy

I rock you close
fragile little bundle
I call you
JOY

you're
sometimes only days old
sometimes absent
without notice
while I impatiently anticipate
your return

immutable
inscrutable
I call you joy
but you fall through
the intimate spaces of
my small hands
evading me

wanting to be on your own--
you have your own place
with a lsecret ock and key
you're evasive
have a schedule of your own

when I find you
or you return
I'm relieved
to see you home
sleeping  with you
wrapped within my arms
the warmth
you radiate
warms me

I hold you gently
inhale your perfume
closing my eyes to curl my toes
a frisson
A SHIMMER
I SHIVER AT THE THOUGHT OF YOU--
thrilling precious fragment
that you are

I swear an oath
to cherish you cherish you
always
think of me as a space
a home
you can return to
and be yourself

precious fragile
little bundle
I call joy.

the older I get, the greater at times, is the potential to lose someone
some idea, something, precious.  this is partially what this poem is
attempting to express...and also to appreciate when you are in that
moment with someone, that idea, that especially sentient being and relish it.
