My Poetry

Seasons Change

Today, the sun is shining brightly in the sky
Even though there are gray clouds
It's freezing cold out
And I am warm inside my home

It's not summer anymore
And it's not spring either
Where did the autumn season go?
For it was too short or none at all

I miss the birds chirping in the early hours
Waking me with their beautiful song
I miss the mild warm weather
It's gone until next year

Thanksgiving came up fast
And nearly caught us off guard
Thankfully, I got what I needed
So, I can stay warm in my home

Christmas is right around the corner
Ha! I got all my Christmas shopping done
Now, there's no worries left for me
I don't have to go out shopping for gifts

I pray for snow on Christmas Day
For it wouldn't seem like it was Christmas
I love the red and white poinsettias
It makes it look more festive

Listening to Christmas songs
Like O Holy Night by my favorite artists
Sitting at home all cozy and bright
Waiting for the snow to fall

I miss the autumn season
All the leaves turn colors
Of red, orange, yellow, purple, and brown
And the cool breeze before it's freezing

And I definitely miss spring
All the flowers are in bloom
Everything comes back to life
Like a renewal for that year

The fragrances of flowers
Hung in the air
And the trees and grass are green
Time to cut the lawn again

Well, winter is here
And it's here to stay
Frozen temps and blistery wind
Makes me glad that I am warm inside
