One Book Night Stand
Among these stacks of books for
just one night with a read woman
hope is shaded by a night table lamp.
She is
medicine to mend mistakes
ointment to soothe wounds
a voice to silence the doubts.
She sang
you softly into places
you never allowed or
permitted yourself to go.
She made
you spite the sun
and envy the dawn
as you left in new light.
