Please hear my prayer O Lord. Give an ear to my plea; Let it not be ignored, I ask You for mercy. Righteously answer me, Enter not a verdict; Knowing all that you see, I ask not to convict. For no one is righteous, No one is justified; Have mercy in justice, Help me be rectified. For the foe has pursued, And is crushing my life; Put me in a bad mood, By causing me much strife. He sat me in darkness, Like those who long been dead; Naked from the starkness, Starving not being fed. My spirit faints within, My heart within appalled; Losing my discipline, Pondering for my God. Think of the days of old, Reflect what You have done; Everything You have told; All work You had begun. I have stretched out my hand, As my soul thirsts for You; Asking what You demand, And to help me construe. Hide not from me Your face, Rescue me from the pit; Let me feel Your embrace, Made spiritually fit. Let me hear this morning, About Your steadfast love; Judgment without scorning, Giving refuge thereof. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
