For God my soul waits in silence, Since from Him comes my salvation; Because He is my best defense, Against all of the temptation. He is my rock and salvation, My fortress not greatly shaken; He calms me from my vexation, Knowing I am not forsaken. How long will they attack a man, Battered like a tottering fence; He has already in His plan, For slaying you in my defense. They plan to thrust Him from up high, Taking pleasure in this falsehood; Building a tower in the sky, For reaching Him thinking they could. My soul waits in silence for God, Because in Him whence comes my hope; I proceed to honor and laud, Perseverance helps me to cope. God is my salvation and strength, My glory and my mighty rock; To persevere at any length, In prayer as I constantly talk. I put trust in Him at all times, Before Him I pour out my heart; For He has forgiven my crimes, So that I can have a new start. Those of low grade are vanity, The elite full of delusion; Both are filled with insanity, Living life with an illusion. Never put trust in extortion, Set no hopes on a robbery; It just creates a distortion, In causing prideful snobbery. Steadfast love belongs to the Lord, Rendered according to his deeds; If he remains in one accord, And be deserving of his needs. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
