I've got 16 things to think about
but all I wanna do
is make a castle out of cardboard
and play in it with you
we'll make the largest paper playhouse
with a draw bridge and a roof
somewhere we can be alone
for at least an afternoon
so you grab all those boxes
and I'll go grab the glue
I'm not allowed to use the knife
so you better grab that too
pots and paints and popsicles
whatever we can use
and escape with me into a world
where wishes can come true
where you can be a princess
at your window peeking through
and I can be a Prince
or a Knight that you once knew
first we'll make the towers
using different cardboard tubes
then we'll need a gatehouse
so we never have to move
and you can paint it any colour
black or red or blue
cut shingles out of sticky foam
we're gonna need a few
we're gonna need some sticky tape
for the ones that might come loose
a few repairs a lick of paint
we'll make it look brand new
and we'll tell each other stories
of a love that grew and grew
on dragon wings with kings and queens
we'll imagine that we flew
and I'll protect you from the dinosaur
