This is what that you have heard, That you should love each other; And sharing as in the Word, With your sister and brother. We should never be like Cain, Who had been the evil one; Causing one another pain, The murdering that was done. Wherefore a deed that he slew, Killing his righteous brother; His emotions that he knew, Wanting to hate another. Marvel not if others hate, The things that you say and do; Judgment Day they see their fate, To eternally construe. We passed out of death to life, Because we love the brothers; Those without love will have strife, With agony that bothers. Murderers hates another, Eternal life will be dark; Lack of love for your brother, Hotter where you will embark. Jesus had laid down His life, And we should lay down ours; Regardless of any strife, Of the hater that cowers. Whoever has worldly goods, And sees their brothers in need; Will be losing livelihoods, Not following godly creed. Let us not love from the tongue, Rather indeed and in truth; Because what the tongue has flung, That has been rude and uncouth. We shall know what is the truth, Reassuring our heart; That we learned in our youth, In the Scriptures we impart. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
