From my youth the Lord has taught,
As I proclaim wondrous deeds;
For everything I have sought,
He has fulfilled all my needs.
Though with old age and gray hair,
The Lord does not forsake me;
I know He is just and fair,
Giving me insight to see.
Righteousness from high Heaven,
Established all the great things;
Through the salvation given,
All the beauty that it brings.
He has made so much trouble,
Calamities revive me;
Pulling me from the rubble,
As spoken by His decree.
He increases my greatness,
By comforting me again;
Trouble becomes sedateness,
To spiritual discipline.
I will also praise with song,
With harp for His faithfulness;
For in Him nothing is wrong,
To erase all doubtfulness.
My lips shall greatly rejoice,
When I am praising His name;
I am lifting up my voice,
And continue to proclaim.
I speak of His righteousness,
And will not be put to shame;
Because of His graciousness,
His Spirit lighting my flame.
