A Language You Can't Ignore.... re-edited 1/12/2022

is it your truth
to dare
double dare or bare to me
a promise to be fair to me
cloaked in what
ought to be discreet
but to me is
not

you're a language
and a feeling
I can't ignore

why do you write your poetry
in my head at night
or do I do compose it there

bare chested
and my heart exposed
hoping you might see
all that is me

what's with the reveal
what's with that reveling in it
and all those revelations
like some big prestige

my thoughts are lined up
like little boy soldiers
could I be a little-girl goddess
not the women
everyone's nibbled on
as if I were their last thanksgiving...

such nonsense
such non-sequitors
and such agonizing curled-toe-pushups
of the bedroom carpeting or the comforter
lapping across my bed
and the curling thoughts in my
aching head
caught within a puddling
of sleep-lost-ness

would it better to be in my
body or to live within my heart
instead--
don't make me choose

sometimes, I might be a smart girl
but there's no Boolean Logic to love
it simple is what love becomes
and how it takes me down
beneath its undertow
far beyond the wingtips of angels
or the heated demons of desire

have you felt the tension
the deliciousness of desire and
the intake of glorious volumes of air
the desire in one singular focused thought
so focused
I could conjure you
anywhere

brief time and tenderness
have woven together
a tangledness
imbedding itself
within
my irrational brain

i want your cure
worry it might not come
loving myself enough first
but desiring to be someone singular
a hunted wanted one

I crave you
Catnip
joyfully lustfully rolling in that
so-pleasing filthy stuff

what's the use of being manageable
what is the use of reputation
when there could be that welcome
sensation of rising up
the head and heart
one in palpitation

i want to run riotously
through the the fields
and burst white-hot into flames
be extinguished in your arms

here is my poem
an old and unvaried version
written in a singular
language you can't ignore.
