Dissillusionment

Back on leave in the village,
Not been there for a year,
Quite excited on the bus
As familiar sights got near.
Been home two days now
And, oh my giddy lord,
I never thought I'd say thisw
But already I'm so bored.
Nothing in common with old mates
Though heavens knows  I've tried.
They talk about the same old things
And conversation's all but dried.
The older folk are just great but
Talk about their own service days
And it's difficult with them
To get a word in edgeways.
I love this village and the people
But the pace of life is so slow
And sad to say it but I'll be glad
When it's time for me to go.
I've  visited my  special haunts,
Fixed them firmly in place,
Recorded with love and respect
Every single familiar face.
I'll keep all in my heart and mind,
My next leave won't be so long.
It's so sad to say this but,
These days I really don't belong
