not sure how
but I woke up one day
and there you were
you saw a princess
i was unsure of any beauty
that I might contain within
I woke up one day
and I had eyes for color
and the vision to see it
you stood front and center
blinding me
I woke up one day
untied the tangle of my heart
unknotted its vessels
you helped untangle myself
(who does that?)
I woke up one day
tucked into my surrounding
where I found you
I found you grinning
bold as a ghost but
material as my skin
and human to the core
I woke up
on the edge of my bed
you other-sided snoring
marveled how you got there
found you were staring
tousled hair and bold questions
and stars for eyes
now
I wake up
lost in your beauty
thought I lost my stars
but they're earthbound
and breathing with life
might I suggest
if one day
you could wake up
why not do it
lasso the mirage
the bright weaving spark
it is possible
the impossible
holding it before you
as it sifts through the sieve
of your fingers
knowing that some of it always stays
know when you're
lucky
fate is a wily lover
if he knocks at your back door
let him in let him in
