i lie awake
and words rush in
making images from
our first conversation

me searching for sentences
shuffling speech
and feeling the weight of your eyes upon me

how odd to be observed
so closely
with keen interest
and feel its x-ray heat

to emerge from the shadows
in full view of someone's
deliberate gaze

disturbing me
in countless ways
a tsunami of pleasure
a tide to gather up my molecules
and the feelings of being wanted and
perhaps desired

to feel an ember glowing
building into a growing fire
to become another's poem taking shape
from the darkness

a melding of both
regard and vision
hitting me as its mark

oh to be something
sublimely
to someone someone
