UN-THREAD THE NEEDLE (OF TIME)

"THERE IS NO BETTER ADVICE THAN THE ADVICE
TIME GIVES YOU." IVETH MOTIEL...COPYRIGHT 2010
WRITE AROUND PORTLAND
*********************************************************

see the girl, not-the-girl
wearing the red harem pants
and her slender waist bending

notice her tentatively smiling
sharing her thoughts as she moves her small hands
waving them about expressively

notice her curly bottle- blonde fragility
her hip bones lean flung forward proudly
her laughter as it cascades up and down the scale

if you could speak to her
how would you advise her
don't stay. leave while you still can.
you need to study tomorrow. the stars can wait for another night.

see how time
is now a narrow opening in a needle
how the mind too readily slips through that hole
back and forth indecisive

its not so important to be noticed
or listened to
wait on love and the possibility of touch
there's no expiration date

yet there's games
stratagems you mother/father never taught you
and threads move in the direction of the eye of the needle

and how
30 some years later
you/I still unthread that needle
thinking its a way to unravel the stitches
which are still left inside of me
holding me together
so the secret inside of me
won't fall out
nor cave inward.
