Preserve me for I take refuge,
For O God You are my Lord;
Your commands I cannot refuse,
For You never can be ignored.
I am no good apart from You,
Because in You, I take delight;
Knowing You are faithful and true,
While doing all that is right.
Sorrows who worship other gods,
With their drink offerings of blood;
Pouring out from their lips as frauds,
Multiplied that hastens a flood.
You are my chosen and my cup,
You are holding my lot and soul;
When I am down You lift me up,
Allowing you to keep control.
The lines fall in a pleasant place,
With a splendid inheritance;
Constant blessings of flowing grace,
Builds up in You, my confidence.
I will bless You as my counsel,
Through the night my heart you apprise;
While in my mind You stencil,
Of Your Word that will make me wise.
I set You always before me,
Because You are at my right hand;
I will never be shaken free,
As I adhere to Your command.
My heart is glad dwelling secure,
My flesh also shall rest in hope;
Blocking any devilish lure,
From temptation that I must cope.
You are showing me the path of life,
In Your presence fullness of joy;
Your pleasures will avoid the strife,
With the salvation You deploy.
