Rage

I listened to his voice
Pictured him in my mind
Then opened my eyes
Time hadn't been kind.
The fairly slim young man
Now almost totally gone
To an overweight slob as
Middle age had crept on.
I remembered his anger
How, nice to your face,
He would suddenly explode
Out in social media space.

Vehement and violent at
Some imagined outrage
He would spew forth venom
In his paroxysms of rage.
Tolerated for his talent,
Maybe out of fear and dread
As to who would suffer next
From the turmoil in his head,
They trod carefully around him,
Even the most innocent phrase
Could trigger an anger storm
That could  last for many days.

Our own local version of
The  Incredible Green Hulk
Not  to burst from his clothes,
But instead  foam and sulk.
Once a man I considered
To be a much valued friend
Until such a cyber attack
Brought that to a sudden end.
A musician of style and talent
A musician of depth and soul
Such a pity his social skills were
Those of a  petulant Cave Troll.
