I bow my knees to the Father, Who of our Lord Jesus Christ; Adopted us as a Brother, That the Father had sacrificed. The whole family in Heaven, And on the earth has been named; Of the adoption been given, For as the Father has proclaimed. For the riches of His glory, Granting you a strengthened power; Confessing that you are sorry, For the guilt that makes you cower. By His Spirit strengthen in might, So that Christ can dwell in your heart; Grounded in love that gives insight, Rooted in faith not to depart. May you have strength to comprehend, With all the saints that will measure; Never causing them to offend, Remembering to give pleasure. The love of Christ exceeds knowledge, To fill with the fullness of God; We affirm as we acknowledge, By diving Him honor and laud. Do far more than to ask or think, Granting the power within us; Steering clear of any strong drink, And lustful desires as thus. To Him be glory in the church, And in Christ throughout the ages; Forever with an endless search, Avoiding all that enrages. Copyright ©2022 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
