Your Candle Burning In the Wind

there's a need infinite
and definite

one that expands
and retracts
and breathes
in/out

skin to skin
arms around
head touching head
forming
one heart

why is it
you breath out
as I inhale within

why do I see the invisible
and imagine
my heart contracting
stoking the fires felt
following the steps
where your words have been

wanting is not having
having is not holding on
fires are ephemeral
so why do I burn down
to the embers
of my whole

2 out of 3
is bad
I long for what
I think most have had

your candle
burning
in the wind...

(my hand
MY HEART
sheltering YOU...)
