Words Being Yours...Until The Grave 4/23/2022

Have you ever boiled or
burned in water...

and then felt
like you had drowned
within its flames?

did you once believe
until you were congealed down to
a thought
and afterwards were
never quite the same?

did you wish for a fortnight
in the middle of one day?

did you dream up an entire world
and then wish it would stay?

if words were your friends,
would you be able to shake their hands?
would they keep you in good company
and never ever demand..
that you MUST behave...
being yours until the grave.

would choose your words
carefully or
in any which way
and be angry, sad, lonely, or simply be
ecstatically glad...
would they be super,
like glue
and always stay?

what fine good words
could be friends?
would they number as
many as are listed in the dictionary?

then there's those
which are daily invented
or "memed?"
would you, could you,
finally then,
be in your best(est) company?

words within your mind's reach,
day or night...
found in any landscape or
imaginary cubby hole

you might cuddle up,
buttercup
and never-again
be lonely or alone.
