Let everyone be quick to hear,
Be slow to speak and slow to wrath;
Doing for the Lord and revere,
Avoiding trials on your path.
Anger of man does not produce,
The righteousness coming from God;
When you would let Satan seduce,
Sinful events to become flawed.
Put away all your filthiness,
Temptations that you have heard;
Along with rampant wickedness,
Receive with meekness of the Word.
The Holy Word to save your soul,
Not just hear but as a doer;
Letting the Lord be in control,
And be a righteous pursuer.
If one is only a hearer,
He sees not his face in a glass;
A reflection in the mirror,
Will only see any trespass.
He looks at it and goes away,
What He looks like he will forget;
Mindless of the Word goes astray,
For he has not confessed his debt.
One who looks at the perfect Law,
The Law of freedom perseveres;
As the doer receives no flaw,
While in the Lord he reveres.
If one thinks being religious,
And never did bridle his tongue;
Deception of being righteous,
Worthless words that are being flung.
Pure religion is undefiled,
Visits others with affliction;
Being unstained as His child,
Never having a conviction.
