"Her Own Knight"
Written By Cynthia Louise Baker Bogear
A young hopeful girl took on the challenge of the world,
Youthful in her dreams of a world she had not yet discovered,
She fantasized possibilities of a life she had only dreamed,
Happily with glee she smiles as images danced before her,
Years passed stealing her youth fading her joys and dreams,
Dreams she changed over years to ones of survival,
The long awaited knight she hoped would save her became her,
A youthful girl became a strong woman the world had raised,
Her studies brought knowledge life could not teach,
Life gave her lessons that her studies did not teach,
Life would keep moving forward giving her many difficulties,
Adjusting at every turn to earn her place in life,
Her youth has now faded and wisdom touches her face,
She looks across the night sky from her balcony when a smile touches her face,
In her youth she dreamed of a knight to give her a fairytale,
In the end she gazes at the night sky with her little dog and no other,
Even though she had dreamed of a knight that never came,
In her many years and all her trials in life,
The biggest lesson she learned was she only needed her dog and herself,
In the end she was her own knight.
