she tiptoes
eyes wide open
ready to embrace surrender
a marionette
dancing
under burnt orange clouds
she makes a wish
on a drain
pulled the plug out of the oceans
and watched the sea
turn the colour of fire
reflected in the sky
she has forgotten herself
reached the end
beyond which she cannot go
a woman in the sun
far from the here and now
arms open in beautiful acceptance
she shrieks
like a pretty dead flower
in sudden spontaneous combustion
a moth going down in flames
whilst everything around falls apart
in excited exclamation
she stands alone
listening in silence
to the whisper of her shadow
carried by doves in the last hint of blue
whilst a rusty old lantern
lights her way to the stars
