Continuation

On the edge of the edge of nowhere
At a spiral galaxy's outer rim
Far away from any point of centre
A region bare and sparse and dim
A miracle of chemistry occurred
A mixing of primeval slime
Nurtured by the pulsing heat
That slowly developed in time
An act of planner creation
Or a fortunate accident
Clustered around that boiling
Bubbling undersea thermal vent
And suddenly in galactic terms
Simple forms of life evolved
Leaving a problem
Unlikely to ever be resolved:
Divine intervention, or
Happy accident totally unplanned
A creation occurrence without
Any ethereal helping hand.
Millions of years later
That life evolved and moved on
To probe and question the myths
Concerning  its own creation,
To face  extinction in the far far future
From the death process of their star.
Against all odds will they manage
To spread their species unthinkably far,
From that edge of the edge of nowhere
At a spiral galaxy's outer rim
Far away from any point of centre,
A region bare and sparse and dim.
