Poetic Verses

It's Still Around

Some of those things that happened in yesterday year
As we hear them they certainly caused no cheer
Because many of those movie stars we so revered
Time has shown how little of a sector they cared

There was one who did not have any type of remorse
To show the others that being a racist was his course
Rejected black actors and it was said got so elated
What a black leader fighting for rights got assassinated

While other believed they had the solution
That when those black get some form of education
They will have that opportunity and no difficulty
To carve out a niche in the society

Well said but of course people knew better
That no matter what something else would be the matter
Then another believe the extent of the problem
Is that those pigmented wanted things handed to them

But as people living years of steadied and subtle oppression
Yes there is still in area an benign segregation
Yes those forefathers slaved long hours building this nation
Then those privilege ones deprive us of participation

Those days of those years of hate inspired fights
Trying to budge the needle to shift those rights
Excelling at Olympic games riding victory's waves to shore
Then come home to enter places through the back door

One would be a fool to say it is not alive
And the politicians using it as fuel for the elections drive
Chopping, changing, redrawing lines all in that mix
Even gerrymandering to endure that victory's road is fix

Now shamelessly some went all out to smudge
The reputation of a lady and well qualified judge
But the underlying factor, the vexation degree of rejection
Some say it was because of the proportion of melanin in the complexion

But what a disgrace to see the type of question
Being asked by those of such high level of erudition
Maybe those in control of those Ivy League institution
Held down there heads in a display of dissatisfaction.
