 ramblings and things

Car Marques

I drove a Lada Riva which
They thought was just a heap.
It was second hand, Russian,
Reelable, economic, and cheap.
I always considered a car
Just a tin box to keep me dry,
They all had super duper ones.
I just couldn't  understand why.
My banger did the same job
At less than half the cost
And with minimal depreciation
Very little money lost.

Then they went a step further
To the ridiculous situation,
Each went out and bought
A Personal vehicle registration.
Not to be the odd one out I offered
To change my name to E 94  X A T
A reasoned and economic compromise
Or so it seemed to me.
I went and told the manager
Thinking that would do just fine
He glared at me in anger and
Said I was extracting the urine.

Relationships were strained
Much to my surprise
Then I went and found
A sensible compromise.
I kept my reliable old banger
But to try and put things right
I parked away from the office
Out of their lines of sight.
And, lo, in time peace returned
I was readmitted to the fold
And they eventually forgave that
My car was Russian, cheap, and old
