Poetic Verses

Those Wealthy

There are times when looking at the wealthy
Being human and poor, there can a bit of envy
Then will come that wish and praying for the moment
That the time will come when they can be considered affluent

Looking through those newspapers highlighting weekly
Those lavish parties hosted by the wealthy in the society
Reading about the amount of champagne and that the buddly
Was reported to have a few grand a bottle easily

Then there would be photographs portraying the best
This would catch the eyes of the ladies, especially the dress
How the will look and one could see the admiration
All day long that became their topic for discussion

Some people would say it's a show off this extravagance
Where is that sense of humanity, meaning benevolence
It such a waste to be spending such a sum of money
They should do something to improve the plight of the needy

Was it fair for them to make such a statement
Is it not theirs to spent on any type of enjoyment
So if they decide to have a Cinderella's ball
What would be the matter if they spent it all

One day one of the wealthy said to me
Tell me something and answer me truthfully
Those persons that you see around me daily
Is it me they love? Or it's because I have money

This is what you should do, when I spoke
One day pretend to be sad, then cry and say you are broke
Then after some time those who stick around
They are the ones, and that friendship is sound
