The Ash
That day waking up my usual time in the morning
Wondering why there no light from those glasses reflecting
This type of occurrence seems so unusual
What could be responsible for such a spectacle
So on looking out made one so astound
There was such a degree of darkness around
Therefore the light of the sun was obscured
And vision would be more or less blurred
The reason for such a precipitation
Was that there was a high concentration of ash formation
This was because of a volcanic action
That was happening in a neighboring island
How quickly it travelled over on hundred miles
To rest in some areas gathering in little piles
On roof tops, trees drains and on the ground
This seems like it was very far flung
What a sight to see people move under the cover
As they had no hesitation in using an umbrella
Whilst other wore goggles and mask
Looking like protection from some nerve gas
Motorists had to drive very slowly
Because of the problem of low visibility
Tooting horns engaging those hazard lights
Being in those traffic jams was no delight
As far as the eye could see was lots of black
The ash kept coming down and that's a fact
Then the people sat worried and were thinking
This is going to take perhaps days of cleaning
Too there were also other reasons for concern
This was nothing too hard discern
Knowing the ash may contain chemicals for a reaction
With there metal roofs with corrosive proportion
The farmers too believed too this may be replenishment
For their soils getting starved of nourishment
Hoping to get an improvement in their crops
And would spread it out when it stops
Wondering why there no light from those glasses reflecting
This type of occurrence seems so unusual
What could be responsible for such a spectacle
