Ripples in time _

His voice drops in on a melody with a

familiar fine hello, a friendly affair.

A rhythm from yesteryear somehow presents

dropped into a cadence from decades past when

cairns wrapped itself around you in tropic bliss.

Time out before the elvis movie big screens

a flicker show at cairns central cinema.

Enough time to check out a familiar face

sitting at a table eating noodle soup

a likely lad up for a bit of a yarn.

The morning crowd fills this food factory with

flu, noise and whatever their talk turns into.

Them two drift on a frangipani breeze from yesteryear

a 70's recall when cairns rose from her

60's you beaut slumber in far north queensland.

Bob's back up from the deep south now retired to

a local FM station, skills never lost.

A bush poet par excellence he recites

from memory the best true verse he wrote, a real

treat amidst the din of this chatterbox crowd.

His cairns show trip whispers catchup with thempla

from this old stamping ground, winter's distant send.

Once a dj on 4CA and local

council member, these scented song lines never

quite let you go, this tropic breeze just too strong.
