CELESTIAL ETERNITY

What Was Necessary

What Was Necessary
Author: Mark V. Markov

When Jesus Christ
Told Peter
If he doesn't let Him
Wash his feet
He would could not have
Any part with Him

He was saying
That if Peter would not submit
To Him as Lord
And let Him do
What was necessary
And what was needed at that time
He would not have any part with Him

So Peter said
Not only his feet
But his head also
Yet Jesus Christ said
Only feet were necessary to be washed
Since obviously
They were dirty

Now days, most people
Don't have dirty feet
When they gather together
Because of showers.
Because of private and public transportation.
So since
Everyone usually has clean feet.

It is same as Peter's head was clean
It was not dirty
Therefore Jesus Christ said
Only feet were needed to be washed
At that time
Since obviously
They were dirty

The crucial emphasis
In what Jesus Christ said
Is that He wanted Peter to submit
To Him as Lord

Since Peter did not want
To allow Jesus Christ to wash his feet
Peter did not want
To let Him do
What was necessary
At that moment

The disciples feet
Were dirty
From all of the walking
And Jesus Christ wanted to show
An example
Of being a servant

Yet if the feet are not dirty
They are not required to be washed
Same as Peter's head was not dirty
So Jesus Christ said
It did not needed to be washed by Him

But if anyone sees someone's feet being very dirty
And if they want to
Out of love for that person
To wash his or hers feet
That is ok

It is just not required to wash someones feet
In order to have salvation.
What is required
Based on what Jesus Christ said to Peter
When it comes to have salvation
And to have part with Him

Is, to submit to Jesus Christ,
As your Lord.
And to do everything
He instructed
For all His followers to do.
Which is to get baptized in water,
In the Holy Spirit,
And to keep the commandments.

When Jesus Christ
Told Peter
If he doesn't let Him
Wash his feet
He would could not have
Any part with Him

He was saying
That if Peter would not submit
To Him as Lord
And let Him do
What was necessary
And what was needed at that time
He would not have any part with Him...

John 13:3-10 (ESV)

3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands,
and that he had come from God and was going back to God,

4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel,
tied it around his waist.

5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples'
feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"

7 Jesus answered him, "What I am doing you do not understand now,
but afterward you will understand."

8 Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him,
"If I do not wash you, you have no share with me."

9 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!"

10 Jesus said to him, "The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet,
but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you."

John 13:12-17 (ESV)

12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place,
he said to them, "Do you understand what I have done to you?

13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also ought to wash one another's feet.

15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.

16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master,
nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
